About the event
The Kennet Horse Boat Company is a small, family-run business that operates traditional canal barges. The company was established in 1970 and has been run by the Butler family since 1980. The company is now owned and run hands-on by the second generation of the family, Stephen Butler and his wife Charlotte, who took over from Stephen’s parents, Bob and Jenny, in 2004. They are working hard to keep the horse-drawn barge tradition alive, and you can be assured of a friendly welcome and attentive service from Charlotte, Steve and their staff. They love their horses and thoroughly enjoy enabling their customers to experience the magic of drifting sedately along the Kennet and Avon canal in their horse-drawn barge.
Why not come with us we journey back to appreciate the beauty of the countryside and the slower and peaceful pace of yesteryear. Sit back and soak up the tranquillity of the countryside from a totally different viewpoint. The horse drawn barge is painted in the traditional rose and castle style and is an important part of England's heritage and is one of the few remaining horse-drawn barges in the country. On board there are plenty of seats, a toilet, gift kiosk, and a bar. Our three-hour cruise will include a Ploughman’s lunch followed by apple pie, which will be served on board.
Our coach will depart from The Bull at Barming bus stop at 9.20am, Teston Village Hall at 9.30am, the Wateringbury Hotel bus stop at 9.40am, East Peckham crossroads bus stop at 9.50am, Hadlow Square bus stop at 10am, Hadlow Road bus stop (junction with Orchard Drive) at 10.10am, Rose and Crown bus stop, Tonbridge High Street at 10.20am and Tonbridge Railway Station bus stop at 10.30am.
