Day 1 – Travel to Sidmouth with stop in Ringwood

We leave the villages in the morning and head for the beautiful coastal town of Sidmouth, Devon with a stop on the way at the historic market town of Ringwood, Hampshire with comfort breaks as necessary. We are staying at the magnificent Royal York & Faulkner Hotel positioned at the centre of Sidmouth’s elegant esplanade, overlooking the sea and adjacent to the picturesque town centre. The hotel is beautifully appointed with all amenities, excellent facilities and a lovely spa.

Day 2 – Sidmouth Donkey Sanctuary

After a relaxed morning, we visit the award-winning Sidmouth Donkey Sanctuary. Just a short drive from the hotel, this world-renowned sanctuary is home to hundreds of rescued donkeys. The sanctuary has a gift shop and a welcoming café with stunning views across the fields. Its level paths make it accessible, and its peaceful atmosphere combined with the opportunity to meet these gentle animals up close makes this a heartwarming and memorable experience.

Day 3 – Exeter City and Cathedral

Today, we set off after breakfast, to the wonderful city of Exeter which offers a compact mix of ancient history and modern culture. We begin with a guided tour to marvel at the magnificent features inside Exeter Cathedral, then there is free time to explore as you wish. Spend time at the attractive and historic Exeter Quay, the independent shops and eateries on Gandy Street, the galleries of exhibitions at the Royal Albert Memorial Museum, or discover what lies beneath Exeter’s streets at the medieval Underground Passages or simply find a cosy pub for an hour or two!

Day 4 – Day at leisure in Sidmouth

Visit this scenic seaside town at your own pace with its rich architectural history and many shops, cafes and restaurants. Take a gentle stroll along the Millenium Walkway that stretches the length of the beach, or if you are feeling more adventurous, take a walk along the South West Coast Path and enjoy the striking sea views towards Ladram Bay. Rest your legs with a cup of tea back at the hotel and maybe a card game or two, pamper yourself with a spa treatment or perhaps see a film at the local cinema.

Day 5 – Travel Home with stop in Winchester and a visit to the Bombay sapphire Gin Distillery

After breakfast, we begin our journey home with some free time en route in the magnificent cathedral city of Winchester followed by a guided tour and tasting at the Bombay Sapphire Gin Distillery. The tour showcases the care, skill and artistry behind every drop of Bombay Sapphire, and allows you to discover the flavours of the botanicals which make their gin so unique. Visit the gift shop and take home a tasty souvenir!
